Meet the Poster Artist

Ellen Negley was born and raised in Peoria, Illinois and is now a local watercolor artist, residing in Lake Worth, Florida. Ellen is a returning poster artist with the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce. In 2012, she created the watercolor poster art for the 27th Annual ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival.

“Every time I step up to a blank piece of paper I feel a rush of adrenaline, like stepping off a cliff and not knowing exactly where I’ll land,” said Negley. “Maybe it’s that ever-present challenge that keeps me coming back for more. There is always more to learn.”

Through her travels to the Caribbean, Europe, South and Central America and Africa, her paintings have been influenced by the colorful places and unique cultures she has lived in and visited. In the future, Ellen hopes to host workshops abroad, combining both her love for painting and travel.

Ellen participates in eight to ten art shows each year throughout Florida. She is currently collaborating with Bealls Florida where her paintings appear on products such as apparel, bags, dishes, beach towels and more. Ellen also teaches workshops “to help others explore the amazing world of watercolor painting.”
